Liquidation E-Auction: Also known as Forward E-Auction, which can be used by sellers to sell their items to many potential buyers. Sellers and buyers can be individuals, organizations etc. Items are commonly placed at a special site for auction.

Forward auctions provide best price for the material in a short span of time.

 

Procurement E-Auction: Also known as Reverse E-Auction, in which the sellers compete to obtain business from the buyer and prices will typically decrease as the sellers underbid each other.

The most common application of reverse auctions is for e-procurement, a strategy used by purchasing as part of strategic sourcing and other supply management activities. It enables suppliers to compete online in real time and is changing the way firms and their consortia select and behave with their suppliers worldwide.

 

Freight E-Auction: These auctions are similar to a reverse auction. Shipper list information about their freight, then truckers, freight carriers make bids to deliver the shipments. The bids can come in at prices far below retail shipping rates because the drivers are looking for freight to fill unused space in their trucks.

 

E-Tender:  An internet based process wherein the complete tendering process; from advertising to receiving and submitting tender-related information are done online. This enables firms to be more efficient as paper-based transactions are reduced or eliminated, facilitating for a more speedy exchange of information.
